Marrakesh Country Club was originally developed in January of 1969, on the land formerly known as Haystack Mountain Ranch.

The challenging and enjoyable 18-hole golf course, with its spacious greens and deep lush grass, was designed by the well-known golf course architect Ted Robinson.

Marrakesh, which has a panoramic view of the snow capped San Jacinto peaks, was develop ed by John W. Dawson, a former amateur golf champion. He also developed Seven Lakes, El Dorado and Thunderbird Country Clubs, as well as Marin Golf Club and Silverado in Northern California. The complex of 364 condominiums is patterned after Marrakesh, the famous health and recreation
resort in Morocco, Africa. The Moroccan theme is carried out in the
architectural design and decor of the homes and the clubhouse. The climate and snow capped Atlas Mountains near Morocco are very similar to those of Palm Desert.

The Marrakesh Clubhouse was formally opened in December 1972 and in October 1976 the Golf Club members purchased the golf course, clubhouse and all improvements of  Marrakesh. At that time, the name was changed to Marrakesh Golf Club as incorporated June 14, 1976. At an Annual Meeting held April 22, 1990, the Regular Golf Members  voted to change the name back to Marrakesh Country Club.

Marrakesh can be proud of its first years and the men and women who laid the foundation for a successful country club. This progress was made possible by hardworking, interested, cooperative and progressive Boards of Directors and Members. Continued success is envisioned in the years to come under the leadership of new Club Presidents, Boards of Directors and members, supported by the very capable staff.

The unique golf course, with its beautiful, natural setting and surrounding lovely homes is sure to maintain it reputation as one of the finest and most  enjoyable courses in the desert area.
