In addition to the splendid golf programs at Marrakesh, there are a number of other activities organized for members, renters and their guests. These other programs are overseen by the Program Committee.

Aquatics
Arthritis Exercise  M - W - F  9:30-10:30 am Tangier Pool, $10 Cash

Member contact: Ms. Jane Foster -  - Marrakesh is one of the few clubs offering a year 'round program of water exercises authored by the Arthritis Foundation. The non weight-bearing exercises in a 90° help keep arthritic joints limber and reduce pain.

Aerobic Exercise
T & Th.  3:30 - 4:30 pm Tangier Pool, $10 Cash

A different program of energetic aquatic exercises is offered to members seeking a strenuous and aerobic water workout. Friedel Ferguson is the certified instructor of both aquatic activities; she is available for private aquatic training as well.

MAG - Marrakesh Art Group
Member contact: Mrs. Bobette Bird - 862-9970 -Weekly meetings are held at pool #11.  An annual art show at the clubhouse is a delightful feature for our artists to display they talent.

Bridge

Member contact: Ms. Toni Gross; 346-8590 - Marrakesh is known throughout the Coachella Valley for its devotion to bridge. There are three weekly programs of organized play, but there are the less formal opportunities to enjoy a hand or two with other members.

Monday evenings offers Swiss team bridge; Wednesday brings both Couples Bridge and a wonderful chance to get to know new couples at the dinner between rounds three and four. Friday is the exciting weekly Duplicate bridge tournament that brings players from other clubs.  Group and private lessons are offered also by Karol Monroe.

Mah Jongg
We meet every Saturday year round 9-Noon

Croquet
North of Clubhouse Monday 2 pm Cost $2

Member contact: Mr. Guy Hutchinson: 341-5505 - Marrakesh hosts a convivial group of members playing golf-croquet. No reservations are needed and renters and guests are welcome, except during the year-end tournament. Dressed in classic white these fun-loving amateurs play on a regulation size court.    In 2006 Marrakesh hosted some of the regional playoffs of the national croquet championship during which many professional players praised the quality of our croquet lawn.

Fitness
East side of Clubhouse Tunnel, weekday class 10 am

Member contact: Mr. Bob Gallagher; 836-0211 - A fully equipped fitness room is available daily to all members, renters and guests. Personal attention is offered by Tom Huebner, 779-4728 who leads a group class.  Tom offers home massage and massage therapy. Fridel Ferguson is also available as a personal trainer, 773-3043.

Putting
Men Putters, Tuesday 11 am Cost $5

Men's member contact: Mr. Sandy Rosenberg; 674-0730 - To sharpen skills and introduce new members, the Pro Shop encourages men to gather weekly on the two putting greens closest to the clubhouse. The format is to putt 36 holes with a partner. The low scorer for the day is rewarded with script to be used in the Pro Shop; all players get $1.00 cash for each hole-in-one. "Men's Putters" is a show-up for all members, renters, and guests from November through May. Partners are provided and no reservations are needed.

Lady Putters
Annual Dues $75 Thursday 10:30 am

Lady Putters member contact: Ms. Nancy O'Hara: . The lady putters have a grand time. They promote, encourage, and advance women's putting in accordance with the rules of putting adopted by the Desert Putters Association. Membership is confined to members of Marrakesh Country Club. Interclub and intramural matches run from November through April.

Swimming
At all pools daily

Member contacts: Mr. Tim Corbett: 341-1302  -Fourteen great pools and shady poolside cabanas are located throughout the grounds for members' enjoyment. Pool number two on Tangier Dr. is kept at 90° for the aquatics classes and is a salt water pool and the rest of the pools are kept at a comfortable 81-84°.  If the cost of heating the pools is unexpectedly high, the Board of Directors might temporarily have the heaters turned off at some of the pools and spas. All the pools and spas at Marrakesh can be used by any member, renter, or guest.

Spas

Many members spend some time in one of our fourteen hot tubs. Although no organized programs are offered, members and guests gather to talk - and even
sing! These spas are maintained at a temperature setting of 100° to 104° from November to Mid-May. If members want the spa heated after mid-May, they
may call the office to request this.


Tennis
Northeast Corner of Marrakesh, Saturday 10 am

Member contact: Mr. Oscar Centi; 346-3260 - Men and women tennis players play mixed doubles on Saturday mornings from November through April. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet members and benefit from a little informal coaching as more experienced members help newer players understand the game and improve their skills.
